-- November 10, 2006 – fg microtec, a leading provider of IMS-based real-time applications for 2.5G, 3G and WLAN handsets, and Sonim Technologies, a leading provider of high-performance mobile VoIP and IMS-based applications for today's mobile data networks, announced the completion of OMA PoC 1.0 client interoperability testing (IOT) against Sonim’s Xperience PoC Server (XPS). The companies intend to certify a full range of fg-enabled handsets for use by operators offering Sonim XPS services to their customers.
Sonim XPS became the first OMA PoC 1.0 compliant server in commercial service when launched with Newphone in Sweden in early October. While Newphone and other carriers have initially deployed the XPS service focusing on the Sonim XP1 ruggedized handset as the lead push-to-talk terminal, completion of the fg IOT activity means that a large number of additional devices will soon be available to these customers.
“We have made significant investments ahead of the curve to ensure that the FG OMA PoC client offers industry leading performance and interoperability”, said Robert Mirbaha, CEO of fg microtec. “Cooperating with Sonim greatly expands the addressable market for our client and we are looking forward to our first commercial deployments in the coming weeks.”
“fg microtec is well-regarded for the strength of its OMA PoC and IMS client solutions and we have been excited to offer their available handsets to our customers,” said Bob Plaschke, CEO of Sonim. “This is an important milestone for both companies and for the OMA PoC market in general, as it demonstrates the power of the new OMA PoC standard to bring interoperable multi-vendor PTT solutions to market quickly.”
