Leading Security Company, Group 4 Securicor, Deploys Sonim’s Hosted OMA PoC Push to Talk Solution
San Mateo, Calif. -- September 22, 2006
Sonim Technologies, the leader in mobile VoIP and push-to-talk IMS solutions for operators and the global provider of high-performance mobile VoIP applications and devices, today announced that Group 4 Securicor, one of the world’s largest providers of security services, has begun to commercially deploy the Sonim Push to Talk (PTT) solution for its security personnel in the Netherlands. The Sonim PTT solution, based on the OMA PoC 1.0 standard, allows PTT communication across any GSM network. The Sonim solution is comprised of the XP1, Sonim’s unique ruggedized GSM PTT handset, Sonim’s hosted PTT service and Sonim’s fixed line dispatch capability that allows desktop users to simultaneously connect to multiple phones.

Group 4 Securicor has deployed the Sonim solution to its security guards in the Netherlands to enable quick and simple communication. The guards, who spend the majority of their time outside, use the phones for walkie-talkie style communication.  The XP1, the first and only IP52-certified OMA PoC PTT phone, is water and dirt resistant and comes enabled with special features like an emergency button and short codes for dialing and texting. The XP1 has an optional external antenna that allows guards to have coverage in basements and other areas traditionally not available to GSM service. Additionally, Group 4 Securicor dispatchers have been outfitted with the Sonim next-generation IP-based Dispatch that allows them to communicate with up to 20 guards at the same time

“We are committed to providing our employees with the tools they need to do their jobs well,” said Mathy Imming with Group 4 Securicor. “The Sonim PTT solution allows us to honor this promise by providing a communication capability significantly superior to any other solution in the market today.”

“Group 4 Securicor is a great example of how enterprises across Europe are starting to deploy our hosted Push to Talk solution to meet their mobile workers’ communications requirements,” said Albert Costilo, Director of European Sales for Sonim. “We are excited about working with Group 4 Securicor as our anchor customer in the Netherlands and look forward to expanding our presence both within the Netherlands and across Europe.”
