Konka Partners with Sonim Technologies to Offer the Industry’s First OMA PoC-Compliant Mobile Handset
San Mateo, Calif. and Beijing -- September 20, 2006 -- September 20, 2006
Sonim Technologies, the leader in mobile VoIP and push-to-talk IMS solutions for operators and the global provider of high-performance mobile VoIP applications and devices, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Konka, the largest handset manufacturer in China, to build Sonim’s recently announced XP1 handset.
The XP1 is the world’s first OMA PoC 1.0 standard, push-to-talk (PTT) handset, offering one-to-one and one-to-many communication capabilities in a ruggedized device specifically designed for use by mobile work teams. Sonim designed the device to offer optimized OMA PoC performance and usability characteristics, including IP52-compliant dust and water resistance, high-output audio and prominent PTT control buttons. Together these features deliver a unique enterprise user experience that has been missing from proprietary PTT solutions aimed at consumers.
“Konka is well known for its best-in-class quality control processes, making it a natural choice to manufacture the XP1,” said Bob Plaschke, CEO of Sonim. “The XP1 is one of the cornerstones of Sonim’s focus on bringing OMA PoC to mobile enterprise users and we are very confident in Konka’s ability to deliver the quality and consistency demanded by this growing subscriber segment.”
