Sonim Technologies and setcom Announce Cooperation to Accelerate OMA-PoC Handset Interoperability
San Mateo, CA, & Munich, Germany -- May 1, 2006
First Commercially Available Testing Suite Enabling Handset Vendors to Immediately Begin Delivering OMA-PoC 1.0 Compliant Handsets to Wireless Operators.
Sonim Technologies, the leading developer of high performance VoIP applications for today's mobile data networks, and setcom, the leading provider of testing solutions for mobile applications, today announced a co-operation for OMA-PoC 1.0 development.
“We are excited to be working with Sonim and their OMA-PoC 1.0 end-to-end solution as they are clearly recognized as leaders in this emerging market. The collaboration between our companies has allowed great acceleration in the development and deployment of one another’s respective products.” Frank Schneider, Director of Engineering for setcom continued, “We could not be happier with the level of communication and the speed to which we are progressing together.”
setcom’s OMA-PoC 1.0 test cases are the first approved by the GCF certification body. This makes setcom’s testing suite the first available for establishing commercial conformance with the soon-to-be-ratified OMA-PoC 1.0 standard. Hereby further extending setcom’s lead as the only test platform on the market supporting all applications subject to GCF/PTCRB conformance testing. As additional OMA-PoC 1.0 and eventually OMA-PoC 2.0 test cases are established, Sonim will provide setcom with lead reference implementations to accelerate the commercialization of those test cases.
“setcom’s strong leadership position in MMS and now OMA-PoC 1.0 conformance testing makes them an ideal partner for accelerating the time to market for new standards-compliant devices,” said Bob Plaschke, CEO of Sonim. “With the impending ratification of the OMA-PoC 1.0 standard for PTT interoperability, tools like those from setcom will be in critical demand in the months ahead as handset vendors using OMA-PoC 1.0 clients from Sonim and others rush to meet operator requirements for devices in the second half of 2006.”
