San Mateo, CA -- February 15, 2006
Sonim introduces commercially available Xperience ™ Poc Client enabling IP based Push to Talk services
Sonim Technologies, the leader in enabling today's mobile data networks to deliver high-performance VoIP applications, today announced the Sonim Xperience™ PoC client (XPC).|
Sonim XPC is the first commercially announced PoC client that is compliant with Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) industry standards for Push to Talk over Cellular (PoC). Sonim Xperience PoC Client supports all protocols and functionality required for interoperability with network infrastructure utilizing OMA PoC specifications.
"Sonim's commitment to deliver value to wireless operators is demonstrated by our focus on developing VoIP applications compliant with industry standards, positioning our applications for wide-scale adoption by business customers and consumers," says Bob Plaschke, CEO of Sonim. "XPC can be ported to mobile feature phones, and Series 60 Symbian handsets. In addition, XPC is available in a PC desktop edition, extending PoC services to non-mobile users."
XPC is designed for integration with wireless handsets, other mobile & fixed devices, and applications, including desktop applications. Sonim XPC has been thoroughly tested in live networks, including a series of interoperability tests with OMA PoC servers and clients from the leading wireless vendors.
Key PTT features and functionality supported by XPC include:
· 1-to-1, 1-to-many ad-hoc group, pre-arranged group, chat group sessions
· List Management on the handset, including contacts, groups and group members, access lists, answer mode and Do-not-Disturb (DnD)
· Contact list with integrated presence/availability
· Management of weak and intermittent radio coverage
"Through five years of development, 90,000 man hours, field trials and deployments of Sonim XPC in GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, EV-DO and CDMA1x environments, Sonim has built industry-leading experience in optimizing end-to-end PoC performance and user experience. XPC's best-in-class performance, audio quality and intuitive UI framework is the direct result of Sonim's technological leadership and experience in building PoC solutions," says Joakim Wiklund, CTO of Sonim Technologies.
Sonim will be demonstrating XPC on live operator networks at 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, February 13-16, 2006.

About Sonim Xperience™ PoC Client
Sonim XPC is designed and verified to interoperate with any OMA compliant PoC server and client. XPC uses well defined standard based protocols for connection to network elements: SIP with SigComp for connecting to IMS/SIP Registrar, RTP/RTCP for media transport to the PoC server, SIP Simple for presence/availability updates, and XCAP for group and list management. The client's layered architecture and open access to service enablers (including the OMA-defined enablers: Presence and Shared XDMS) allows for easy implementation and inter-working with a series of new services and applications.
